We're proud to support Jo's Odd Shoes, a community of people who only wear one shoe or two odd shoes to make a pair. Jo O'Callaghan, who lives in Kent, suffers from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a painful condition that caused swelling in her right foot, to the point where she decided amputation was the only way to alleviate the pain. Every time Jo's buys a new pair of shoes, she's adding to her pile of unneeded right feet. She realised that there must be other people in the same situation and set up the Facebook Group where members could swap or donate spare shoes. The Group currently has almost 1,000 members with a variety of conditions who not only swap shoes, but have got to know each other, offering advice and empathy.
At Solillas we often find we have sample sandals that we only ever made as a left or right foot, or one of the feet was used at a trade show. Our odd shoes are now packed off to Jo and we are delighted that she is able to find them a home. No charge is made for any of the shoes on the Group, just the cost of postage.
